Greetings to everyone. This prestigious college has witnessed eminent men as head of the institution since its inception in 1840. It gives me immense pleasure to serve as the 53rd principal of this great centre of learning, which is ranked by NIRF as the third best college in India.
However, my focus as teacher has always been to inspire and serve the students who hail from underprivileged sections of the society from under graduation to Ph.D. level with emphasis on women’s health and empowerment . As principal of this college, I take great pride in giving a warm welcome to all of you and would like to extend a note of advice to my dear students of this prestigious Presidency college.
To achieve this, students of our college should involve themselves in all curricular and co-curricular events. They should train their mind in such a way as to think and review the cause and effect of every event in which they are involved. You students of today, must practice to refrain from unwanted youthful fancies, as indulgence in these activities will affect the rate of your progress and success. On the other hand, if you learn to enjoy hard work both in studies and other daily activities with wise systematic approach, success would follow you in every act. Be alert and attentive to the rapid change in the academic environment where survival is only for the fittest. Health awareness and personal hygiene will help you in overall development of mind and body. The future belongs to you. Prepare yourself with active and positive participation so that you can develop like a pioneer and ultimately grow as responsible men and women. Preserve the heritage and environment of this prestigious 179-year-old institution for you as well as for the generations to come. Strive to join the band of eminent alumni of our college.
With experienced and dedicated teachers and warm and friendly environment provided by the Government of Tamilnadu, our college strives to help students to realize their goals in life. I encourage all students to take advantage of the opportunities provided by the Government college and involve themselves in all opportunities offered. So, march happily through this academic year with hope, faith, and dreams to scale new heights.
To sum up, I would like to quote Aristotle “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all”. With this mind, we conduct programmes throughout the year to appeal to your heart besides trying to impact education to match the advancement in technology and globalization. Our dedicated teachers blend harmoniously with government policies to make our student’s march ahead with the ethos of moral values and principles where higher learning through adherence to traditional knowledge is inculcated.
